|
|
Hi,
I am planning a first trip to Argentina
for a couple of months this Spring ..
I will travel on a tourist visa
and hope to make contacts for a later trip
teaching English.
Anybody has done that in the past?
I am sure there are lots of postings
on similar subjects.
I am reading as many old postings as i can ...
Just want to know if I will have to go back
( to the US) and then back again.
Thanks

you dont need to go back to the US, you just go to Uruguay and come back or pay a "extention of term" at the Migrations Agency. Cheers. |

Why do you say you will travel on a tourist visa? Us citizens don't need a visa. |

Huh?
When you enter Argentina as a US national you receive a 3 month tourist VISA...The visa is free and stamped in yourpassport at the airport but it is still a VISA... |

They stamp your passport to show what date you entered the country. You call that a visa? |

The stamp :"Republica Argentina Direccion Nacional Migraciones...Entrada...the date ..and at the bottom a bunch of catagories..VISA: "Turista 90 Dias"...
IT is a VISA...they did not HAVE to let you in (but they do let everyone from the US in, but they could deny you the 3 month TOURIST visa, but I doubt it has ever happened)...
Its not a big deal...and Im done talking about it... |

Well, I see your point...if the thing says "Visa" it must be a visa, right? But it's still kind of an UNvisa, and it's a bit misleading to say "I will be travling on a tourist visa." Consider my query to the Argentime embassy:
Will I need a visa for visiting Argentina? If so, should I come to your office to get it, or can I get one at the airport upon arrival in Buenos Aires? No visa is required for US citizen to enter Argentina - You automatically get 3 month stay. |

Hey I'm English and I'd like to come for 5 months - do I also get a 90 day visa and can I also pop to Uruguay for a while to extend it? Also will I be able to pick up conversational classes there? Just some hours in the afternoon? Cheers, Carolynne |
