What is the teaching community like in Thailand? I have heard of other countries which it is very stong but I have never heard anything about Thailand. For example in some places they post flyers for activities so you can meet other people and such. Is this the same in Thailand or is there places that everyone hangs out and such?
thanks |

Most expats around Thailand are a friendly bunch, unlike the ones in Korea who distrust and often view each otrher with contempt. There really aren't any "support groups" for foreigners as they aren't needed. If you want to hook up with some foreigners the best place to hang out is down on the soi's and just start up conversations with them. Usually there are a few living pretty close to where you will be. Everybody is always just enjoying life here so don't be too concerned about the "lonely and isolated" foreigner. The locals are very friendly also.[/quote] |

There is a well established teaching community here - but I don't find it much different from Korea, where I found quite a great community.
Not quite as much of a community here as there - but I am a bit isolated - so it will depend on where you are and what you are doing.
Like anywhere - trust and judge at your discretion. |
