Hello everyone,
I've been doing some research on PNET and SNET and it has come up on the forum that some people believe that International schools may be a better option than the NET Scheme. I would prefer to work at an International school and was wondering what the names of some of the big ones are in HK. What kind of classes do they offer? What are the hours like? Pay? Is there weekend work involved? Where do the students come from? A lot of questions I know, but just want to get a general idea.

A lot of the International Schools are ESF schools and you will find information about the individual schools on their website. |

Whether it's better than the NET program probably depends on the international school. As for a list of them, a google search just might yield the following result!
International Schools in HK
Keep in mind there are international schools and ESF schools. Though Annie lumped them together, I wouldn't say they're exactly the same. Depends on your definition of an "international" education. ESF provides a UK style education (thus the name, "English Schools Foundation"). The others offer curriculum based on accreditation standards in other countries (US, Canada, Oz, Japan etc). ESF is subsidized by the HK government.
The undisputed best of the international schools (for an English language American education) is HKIS. Or at least it was in the past. In the ESF universe, KGV is number one for secondary school. For primary school it's probably Beacon Hill or Kowloon Junior.
As for hours, pay, where the kids come from, and weekend work, that would clearly depend on the school!
Check out the link above and the specific school websites. Hope this helps. |
