In a private language school, what is the going rate, per hour, for part-time teaching?

Would the rate depend on qualifications and experience?

Forget Private schools, you will be given long hours, split shifts and thought no more of than the Indian (no offence to to them) cleaners.

Apply for a MOHe position if your quals are suitable.

Apart from the ELS in Salalah which is run by a very decent Omani Director, forget private stuff, it will end in tears - yours!!

Thanks for the info, though I'd still like to know the going rate for hourly-paid work and if it depends on quals. and exp. (Also, does it vary in different parts of the country?)

Please tell me about ELS Salalah. That would be an interesting start.

You should get between 7-9 rials per hour for the part-time work - I will also vouch for ELS in Muscat - worked there off and on for several years, good students ( working adults mostly), good folks and they pay on time.

Just keep the arrangement quiet or between trusted colleagues and friends -it is illegal as we all know to work elsewhere in addition to your contract - however, it is commonplace and the only reason the EFL industry can be affordable in Oman

Ax Bxxxxx--10 rials
EXX--8 rials, but may go up soon
Hxxxxxxx--8 rials, but may go up soon
Pxxxxxxx--Was 8, not sure what it is these days.

8 rials has been the standard for too long. Expenses have gone way up. I think a lot of these institutes are going to find themselves out of part-time help if they don't raise to at least 10. The average minimum rate for private tutoring is 10 per hour.

You can get a residence permit IF you are prepared to buy property in the Sultanate, but that doesn't come cheaply.

You could probably make a little bit of money if you negotiated with a private Language Institute, or if you could fix up a timetable allowing you to work at more than one institute.

Under those circumstances, however, you would be far better advised to go for a full-time position. Even a local hire post, with no air fares and no accommodation would give you sick leave.
