According to my experience with cars in the magic kingdom, I noticed that the most popular car in Saudi Arabia in the 90s is the �Toyota Cressida� (or Crusader, as they pronounce it  ). Of course there are different models of �Toyota Cressida�, and one of the popular ones is the Grande model.
I remember my first car I bought when I arrived in the magic kingdom was a Toyota Cressida Grande with 6 cylinders, and when you press the petrol pedal you feel the engine running like an M tank!!
The Toyota Cressida is very popular amongst the Saudis who used it for Joy Riding in the streets of Jeddah and Riyadh!
It seems now the Toyota Camry is more popular than the Cressida one! |

Can't imagine double agent 007 or Uncle Bond driving around in a Toyota. I thought he'd ride in a Cadillac or a big Mercedes.
How many cars has he been through in his time in the Magic Kingdom. I managed to emerge unscathed. God knows how! |

So are you actually asking that question or not? You didn't mention the question again in your post body.
Toyota has the best reliability and highest resale value of any manufacturer. And Cressida was Toyota's medium/large family car in those days.

Well that's because the Cressida was replaced by the Camry in 1994 (maybe 1993).
Same reason Totota Corolla is the most popular compact sedan. In fact, the Corolla is the best selling car in the world, ever. |

Actually the Saudis' car was the Chevrolet Caprice. In the early nineties few Saudis would have been seen dead in a Japanese car.
The new Caprices were less reliable (they had electronic chips in the engine and American car manufacturers have always been lousy at that part of car design), and that, together with the economic downturn of the late 90s turned Saudis towards Japanese cars (smaller American cars are universally crap and were rightly shunned). |

| So what is the car of choice for English teachers in KSA? I'd like a newish Camry or a Crown Victoria, but will probably settle for something like an old Caprice. |

Sheikh, don�t you know that Uncle Bond is implementing a policy of embargo against US cars and products since 1990!
And he does not use big Mercedes because it will attract unwanted troubles for him! So, he sticks with his humble Totoyota Grande with 6 cylinders and 19� Alloy wheels.
