Hey there! After spending some time in Costa Rica I am considering a move to Quito, Ecuador. I have taken care to browse through the forum archives for information, but I would particularly love to hear from anyone that is there now or has been there doing EFL. Does anyone have any employers to recommend? Anything else? Any and all information is appreciated!

Have a great day!

I have a LOT to recommend- but am training on an intensive TESOL at the moment, and don't have much time-

PM or email me, if you like, but know the response time will be slow!

Best,
Justin

In general, you'll be much better off financially if you try to get a job at a private school as opposed to a language academy. Schools such as Colegio Americano, Einstein, SEK, Liceo Internacional, Colegio Menor, they usually prefer a teacher with K-12 certification from the US, but if they're in a pinch (which can be often) they'll hire people who are trained otherwise, have experience, and appear competent! I never did the language academy thing, but knew people who did, and it was generally frustrating as it often meant travelling to businesses to give classes on-site, only to be told upon arrival that the client had to cancel. Another place to try is the Polytechnic language institute in the Mariscal part of town (the backpacker/hostel area). Not tons of money, but a steady, daily gig.

There's also the Wall St institute. They recently opened a new branch on the far, far north end of town...
