Hello, My name is Travis from South Carolina, USA. I've been accepted into the TEFL program in Siagon in April. What should I expect as far as the course is concerned? Will it be so intensive that i couldn't make it up north on a weekend? Are the courses off on weekends? Are they legit (TEFL International)? Dave seems to advertise them a lot. For any in Ho Chi Minh or know about it any tips would be awesome. Any books that can help on Grammer, and basic TESOL type stuff would be helpful as well. Peace. first post! |

Hi,
I am also from the US (Michigan) and was thinking about applying at this school as well, except at the one in HCMC. I am curious to see what responses you get to your questions because I am looking for the same answers! The Vietnam board seemed to talk mostly of all the necessary documentation that is needed to teach over there. I would highly recommend viewing this information as that it may help you after you are out of school (I am assuming you've already read those posts though). I am also curious to see if they are a good school, what is their job placement rate, can they supply references from other students who went there, etc. What has your experience been with them so far? Do they seem helpful? Are you getting accomodation there thru them? How informative are they on a scale from 1-10? I bet you didn't think that you would be the one getting fifty million questions from another newbie when you posted, ey? I'll appreciate any information you are willing to share. Thanks! Lucy |

They have been pretty informative, but only after they recieved my $500 deposit. I've heard that TEFL is accepted practically everywhere, maybe not in the Mid East, but throughtout Asia. After my deposit was paid they sent me a e-mail with info on Saigon(visa, climate, work attire, etc) and a packet of work to be complete before I get there, and a list of useful but not mandatory books. They gave me a list of place i could stay and just said pick one (the one i picked was $200/month, the cheapest, some where 350 range) Haven't asked about talking to other students, but i was also thinking that. They've returned all my e-mails within a day or so, and have been pretty straight forward, i think. |

I was accepted into the TEFL International program in Saigon, for the Feb-March course. I also got the email with all the info after I paid the deposit, and they seem pretty straight forward, I'd certainly recommend them. I haven't chosen my accommodation yet though.
I'd give them 10/10 so far in terms of information, they've been really helpful. |
