Hi, does anyone have any information about this university or experience of working there (or at Kazakh universities in general)?

I'm considering taking up an offer from them, but unfortunately an equally good offer has come up elsewhere. I really can't decide between the two, and a little bit of insider knowledge about this university could swing it.

The offer is $20 US per hour for 20 hours a week plus free accommodation, flight and visa. To be honest, as a newbie (CELTA+BA and that's it), I was quite surprised to be given an offer for a university position- hence my questions.

The other job is less well paid but appeals for other reasons.

Thanks for any help!- unfortunately I've only got a day or so to make up my mind and the decision is giving me a headache!

That offer seems pretty good, $1600 a month then and free accommodation?
Almaty's a nice place. Getting more expensive, but still easily liveable on that I think. Sorry - I've never heard of the uni! But I've been out of Kaz. for a couple of years now. I only know the language schools like M+K, and IH paid less than $1000 and expected about 25-30 hours teaching a year ago.

Hello,
I reckon it sounds like a good offer, Almaty cant be that expensive yet.
Foreign teachers got treated like VIPs a few years ago ,dont know how much has changed there, but its a place not many people get to go to.
Take your woolly socks and you can buy a fur hat when you get there if you do decide to take the job. And let us know what the school's like.
Ah taraz vodka and caviar and a foxy russian chick - paradise.
