You'll have even more training to do in a couple of weeks when the new 'pron' scales come out. It'll all be self-access though and apparently is pretty easy. |

To my surprise getting involved in IELTS Examining was a positive experience for me ! And I am a hardened old cynic. |

The best way to find out about IELTS from the inside is to become an Examiner ! |

But you will NOT get rich on the earnings from IELTS Examining ! Well, who goes into teaching to get rich ? |

Dear scot47,
No one in their right mind, to be sure. However those teachers who go to the Middle East usually don't choose that location for the night-life or for any other social attractions, either.
Regards,

IELTS can be as lucrative as you make it - depends on how sad a life you lead and how much you examine a month (the sadder the life - the more examining). I used to make a fair amount in Bahrain (shows the exciting life I led) and the UAE and the 3 days oral examining I did in Tanzania paid for a decent hotel. |

The amazing aspect to me is how many teachers from the best-paying EFL gig on Planet Terra choose to do IELTS Examining at the weekend as a hobby. |

Isn't it as much a reflection of how little there is to do on the weekends in the Gulf? Or that what there is pales after a couple years and one would rather fatten the coffers for the long summer break?
