|
|
Sorry for the Noob question, but is there a website where I can get information about Chinese labor laws pertaining to foreign employees?
Googled and Dogpiled the hell out of this and have come up with no resources. Got a situation here at work, and want to inform myself.
Thanks in advance. |

Even if there is such a website it would probably be written in Chinese and even then it would be of little use to you. You are a foreigner in China all the info you need is written in your contract. China has no concept of a union, if an employee (Chinese) doesn't like the job, for whatever reasons, they leave; if the employer doesn't like the employee, they are pushed out.
If you have a problem with your employer then why not tell us about it, maybe we can offer some suggestions. |

If you are interested in the new labour contract laws, that seem to be widely misunderstood by many on this forum, send me a pm with your email address and I will send you a copy in English.
The labour contract laws apply to both foreign and national employees. |

@ danielb;
Thanks much for the offer, but askawino has shown me the on line version. Have you something different?
@ askawino;
Thanks for the link, it's proving to be very interesting reading.
I might be back with a follow up question. These things are never easy. |

There are many labor laws. For instance, I know of a case involving the principle of coercion, when the school required a teacher to sign in order to get their passport. More specifics would be helpful if you wanted conctrete help. In response to WTO pressures, China has on the books labour laws that sound very western. As you perhaps know most lawyers and especially judges have little training, and labour law simply is not the same here regardless of what is on print
