Sorry for yet another Visa post but I could not find my answer in the past posts I browsed.

My Question is this (with some background): I arrived in Shanghai, from America, on a 90-day multiple entry L-Visa in January. A month later I booked a ticket to Hong Kong. I have decided Shanghai fits my lifestyle and the English teachings jobs there are in more demand.

If I re-enter ...will I have another 90 days granted to me (arrival visa)? Or will I still be on the clock starting from my first arrival in January? I plan to find a job and return to the States regardless and re enter on Z-visa, however, I would like to know how much time I will be granted on my job search so I can plan things accordingly. Thanks so much. I look forward to any reponses, especially bearcanada haha.

Your visa runs from the date you got it. If you do not get a new visa, the clock is running on your current one.

To come back in on your z-visa, you have to agree with a school first, they apply for your work invitation letter,... you the apply for the z-visa, and then coming back into country you have thirty days for your school (and you) to go to the local PSB police and get a residence permit. The residence permit is then good for multiple entry and exit. To stay in Chine after, you don't need a new visa, just a current valid contract with a school
