hy to every one I am an italian vehicle designer and i have good references.. a college "ruffles college in shanghai" contact me to work there as teacher..I would like to go to work in China (as experience) and It is a good packaging (house, air ticket, insurance etc..) what they offer me.
They ask me to go there with a tourist visa and then they will convert to a working Z visa. i signed a contract but i wont go until i received a right invitation letter, even if many told me that with a business visa is easy then convert it. Amazing--so much bureaucracy, then is easy do everything!!but as it is not my country and i dont have "connections" i wont find myself in trouble.
Do someone know this college in shanghai?
do they help to convert the visa, or is another bad company?
do they honored the contract in terms of: salary agreed, hours etc.. maybe some one of You, knows them.
I have to decide quickly and i need advice about the visa and in specific about the company--private emails are welcome-- . As far as i understood working in China is not about the "rules" but about "alchemy".
regards and most of it thank You

Potato Chip College? At least they are honest, unlike most Chinese universities.
Thanks for the laugh, S!
EDIT: I see you corrected before I posted. The college should use "Ruffles" anyhow. |

Are they asking the OP to go there to teach English or Italian or something else?
To the OP: I suggest you read the first two stickies on this board concerning visas.
My nephew's new wife returned from China not long ago, where she had joined a group that entered China on L (tourist) visas, being promised that they would get Z visas "later". Needless to say, the Z visas never materialised.
You will find a lot of stories like this on this board. You will also see comments about an impending crackdown on people working without proper visas. I would be very wary of accepting any job where they tell you they'll get a visa for you later. |

Please stay on topic. If the labeling and name calling continues, we will move quickly beyond simply deleting postings as I have just done. |

Believe it's a Singaporean company. I have done some part-time work for them long in the past. It's a "reputable" school that makes money by teaching rich kids who could not get into college.
Work environment in Singaporean companies is usually so-so. As an employee, you are supposed to "know your place." Management usually doesn't have much respect for Chinese staff.
But... It is a well-established operation. They have been in business for a while.
Anyway, tourist visa -- sure. I am sure they will do what they say. They have A LOT of experience with visas. Many foreigners working there. It would probably be a very good first step into Shanghai. They pay a living wage, and you are teaching what you love (I assume) -- design. Just go in, teach your classes, then leave.
Don't worry about the visa. It's not one of the small "black" operations that everyone here is worried about.
Have fun and good luck! |

Also, to answer your question, to help you get a Z visa overseas requires them to get special documents that they then need to send to you, probably express mail. They can save time and money by just getting your visa for you when you arrive. |
