I'm sure you could persuade the schools to add a few extras to #2's education, and to removce a few of the luxuries from that of #1, thereby making the two balance each other....
After all, if it wasn't for the massive numbers of children funded indirectly by govt organisations like the HCT, many of those private schools would not exist. |

I fear the system might be too familiar with the fee levels to get away with that....nice idea, though.....any more? |

Actually isn't it stupid that as children get older, their school fees increase? |

Not really. Normally at elementary levels, they have one teacher and maybe an aide for the day. Once they get higher up in Middle School and High School, they have separate teachers for different subjects - and many more subjects are offered as they go to higher grades.
So... it makes complete sense...

One teacher, seven hours

You're being simplistic... and wrong. Look at the difference in class sizes especially when you get into the situation of offering different tracks... and some students taking special courses.
You may be right when referring to the local schools where every student takes the same program. In the International schools that cater to expats, they may have a dozen different programs.

We put in the invoices for our children [one over 40,000 the other 26,000] and have always received a cheque covering both. Incidentally, if the amount is over 80,000, HCT will pay 50% of the excess. |

rosyanna,
Any chance of your posting how it is stated in the contract?
Is it $80,000 for two only? What if you have more than 2 children? (I know that there are people applying that do have 3 in school.)

The ADWC faculty and staff were told last week that the education allowances would be increased to Dh 40,000 for up to three children. |

So, if I have 3 children in school HCT will provide 40,000Dhms each for a total of 120,000Dhms maximum? |

I think this may also be dependent on each college. I have 3 children in a school in RAK and all of their education expenses are paid (except for books and bus fare)
Mind you RAK education expenses are less than those in AD, or dubai. |
