I'm a little confused on the subject of visitor visa versus student visa. I am already in Taiwan on a multiple entry 60 day visitor visa and am planning on taking Chinese classes at a university for probably a year. However, I've been told by some people I will need to do a visa run to switch to a student visa and then after four months of study register for an arc to continue studying Chinese.
But I've read on the internet that this process can also be done with a visitor visa as well. As long as I am studying at a recognized school I can have my visa extended and then after four months I can resister to get my arc for as long as I am studying. If anyone knows more on this subject that would be great because I don't want to do a visa run if I don't have to.
thanks,
