hey,

i'm looking for somewhere to start teaching, and am interested in either china or thailand. i have already been to thailand, so have some idea of how that country operates, but have no idea how it would be to live as a teacher there.
china is another option i have in mind, could you tell me how it is to work and live there? in terms of working hours, strictness of teaching curriculum, etc.

cheers,

jes.

I taught in China for 2 years, and know someone who taught in Thailand and China; student behaviour is great in both countries, salaries are local and you can teach in both places if you're a non-native English speaker, though of course your English has to be great.

Thailand is probably more western than some places in China (particularly the small villages in central/northern China) but when I visited Thailand, I instinctively knew I was in a foreign country, and loved every minute of my trip there.

Guess it depends which food you prefer Smile

I live in a small city in China and find it interesting. Pay can go from 3,000 to 40,000 RMB a month but in China. Most get around 5,000 RMB a month here along with accommodation and airfares.

The big cities pay more but costs are much higher and you don't see much of the real Chinese life.

Both countries are not good for saving like South Korea.
