Hi. I'm sure this had been covered but for some reason the search function isn't working for me.
My question is when exactly does the school year start. Is it the beginning of August?
I don't think I can make it to Mexico before mid August. If this is the case, should I wait until after the new year to come and start job hunting?
Thanks a million.

The exact date isnt the same for all schools, but typically you are looking at a mid-August start.
However, if you are looking to have a job from the get-go, you need to be here (or at least in contact with the school) before then. I would suggest that you look online for schools in the city that you are interested in, and start emailing the schoolsl; express your interest, attach your resume, and inform them of your arrival date. |

Just a note. Like Dixie said there is some variation. For example the Oaxacan State University system starts the first of October to mid Feb, 2nd semester in the first of March to mid July. There is a summer session for first year students that is August-September.
The primary and secondary schools start mid August. |

Of course, if you're thinking of looking for work at a private language institute, they usually hire at any time of the year, except over the Christmas/New Year holiday and around Semana Santa. |

Thanks for the info. My planning is in the early stages so I'm not really sure where I want to live or what kind of school/institute I want to work for. I have a lot to think about! |
