Hi,
I'm looking into spending July & August in Cali, Colombia. Does anyone have any tips, advice, contacts they could pass on? Is it difficult to get teaching jobs there? What are the people like? What's life like? Etc, etc.
Thanks a million,
Sybille |

I haven't been there, but people say its great, especially if you like dancing. You might want to look into the weather though, I know its nowhere near, but I was in Cartagena in July/August once and found the heat overwhelming. Take a look here http://www.worldweather.org/057/m057.htm for average temperatures and rainfall. |

Cartagena and Cali have different climates. Cartagena, on the coast is a tropical cauldron, but Cali, at about 700m above sea level is more temperate and pleasant.

Cali is also a very green city compared to the more arid coastal parts. There are some spectacular-looking mountains nearby although I was told it isn't safe walk around so be careful with that. The people I met there were very friendly and there is no shortage of salsa bars.
Don't know about jobs in any detail but there are quite a few bilingual schools there who could be well worth trying. |
