It seems like the standard Japanese condom is 32mm in diameter (a bit small for many Japanese guys too, I'd've thought), but if you shop around you can get ones 38mm or even 40mm (i.e. as large if not larger than standard western ones)...so I never felt the need to buy beyond whatever limited supply of the western brand that I initially brought with me. If however you remain suspicious of Japanese condoms for whatever reason, you can order from international suppliers on the internet. |

C'mon... we're in the internet age. Surely you can find whatever you like online and have it shipped. |

Have you looked for information on the UN's Web site about this?
If I were in an HIV hotspot, I'd either have one partner I knew and trusted very well or I'd be celibate. |

hello,
are u actually familiar w/ HIV? the chances of getting HIV through vaginal sex WITHOUT a condom is 0.25% for each sexual encounter. Anal and shared needle use push that up to 5%. using a condom reduces the risk to 1 in 5 billion through vaginal sex (virtually 0%).
The best thing, regardless of where u are in the world, is to know your partner and the amount/type of sexual partners they've had before deciding to have sex w/ them.
Japan is NOT a current hotspot for AIDs, sub-saharan africa is and parts of the US. Washington DC has one of the highest incidence of aids in the world (mostly from shared needles among its drug users)
W/ that said, other STD's like chlamediya and gonoreah are common in tokyo just like in any major metropolis. Again, it depends on the history/lifestyle of your partner. If you meet a girl in a club and she decides to take u home for the night and makes no mention of a condom before u have sex, chances are she has something & u better wrap it up.
i really would'nt let any of that make u decide not to go, cause like i said there are more american cities that have a higher incidence of aids than tokyo (washington DC).
Cheers and have fun. |
