Back to the issue at hand, newbies, if you are reading, take markle's tongue-in-cheek remarks to heart. FAQs (in this case, the stickies at the top of the forum) are there for your benefit, and to minimize headaches from the veterans who linger here. I know a spyware help site that is very strict about people reading such things before even bothering to answer a plea for help. One problem is, here the FAQs are all in the same color and font size as the rest of the headings, whereas on that spyware site, they stand out nicely because of the bold colors.

Anyway, please try using the search function, too. It's not that hard to use. You may figure that time's a-wasting, so you'd rather just ask live people, but realize that this is not a live forum. I've been here about 10 years (before the current forum format, so my date of registering is not what it seems), and I come here a lot, but if you spend some time on your own sifting through threads on a search, you will learn more and attract fewer flamers.

Look at the FAQs on the sites where you consider applying, too. Lots of people come to forums and fail to even read all of the available free literature on an employer's site, but instead fire off questions here that could be answered if they had done that reading beforehand.

Oh, and before anyone comes on to say, "Gee, oldster Glenski. If you've been around that long, why not answer some of those posts you mention in the OP, instead of poking fun at the situation?" I am not poking fun at them. I am reminiscing for starters. For finishers, do a search on any of them and put name in the search keywords. I've contributed boatloads.

So Glenski, how much up to date advice can you provide on the state of hiring in the eikaiwa business? You've got your university job, you've been out of the loop for a few years now. With the state of flux because of the Nova implosion I'd be asking for the latest gossip too.

As a "rookie" to THIS forum, I definitely agree. Newcomers should use the search function and stickies to their advantage. That is what they are there for.

Just for the record, the question I put up (ECC Demo Lesson) was not a general "What is ECC?" clueless question. Instead, I was attempting to ask a clarification on this subject. Because in my research through the search feature I got conflicting stories. Maybe I misunderstood some of the posts, but then again that's why I asked.

I do admit my P.S. question are a bit vague, but that was a last minute addition.
