Hi,

Ok, so I'm new...and since background is good-here goes.

I'm going to graduate in the Spring and I am desperately trying to get back to Madrid as more than just a short term vacationer. I figure my best/only bet it to teach. I am a US citizen-which is bad in terms of legal work. (I know that some people like to debate the legal/illegal status. I kindly ask you to not. I've read a lot of those posts and I've accepted that I will probably work illegally and since I don't plan on staying for a very long time, I'm going to take my chances:o))

My question becomes whether it is better to get my certificate in Madrid or to get my certificate in the US (SF). I'm looking to take the course in the US because it will be cheaper for me because I will have free accommodation. Another reason for this is because I don't plan on going until Jan. 09, but if I take a course in Madrid I won't be looking for work until Feb. I realize that ideally I would go in the fall, but there are several things that tie me to the states in the fall.

Any advice (aside from the legal/illegal debate) would be greatly appreciated.

Gracias!

When you say "my certificate", do you mean CELTA or Trinity? If so, it shouldn't make any difference at all where you take it...

If it's something that the Director of Studies in a Madrid school isn't going to have heard of, it's possible that s/he might reject you on those grounds.

If you possibly can get to Madrid earlier -- even by just a few days -- you might improve your chances of finding work. Term will have started by Jan 9 and you'd stand a better chance of finding a job before it does.
