Thinking of CR! A friend is moving there, and has visited. Nothing but praise!

I am experienced (15 years) with CELTA, Bus Eng Cert and MBA. I normally teach Uni, but am OK most places, except small kids/kindergarten. I can do TTraining. I SPEAK SPANISH.

Pls help:

What is the visa situation? I am British.

Where are the main cities?

What is the 'crime rate'?

Does the weather vary between zones?

Is there a 'main' gay area or city?

Are there any Unis?

What are the salary ranges?

Anything specific to know or avoid?

Hello,

first of all, take a look at the CIA World Factbook for a lot of the basic answers you require.

Second, start looking through this (not very expansive) forum. Use the search function if you wish. You'll find answers to almost all your questions.

Third, post in this thread again any remaining questions.

There's one question I'm pretty sure hasn't come up before, and that's gay areas. Yes, in San Jose there are gay areas, but I don't know exactly where they are. At a guess, El Pueblo has at least one gay bar.
