Hello,

I'll be graduating with my BA degree in a few months, and would ideally like to start teaching English within a few months afterwards. My school usually takes around 6 months after graduation to give the graduate their paper degree and transcripts. My school is having administration problems, meaning it could take even longer than this.

How are recent graduates able to show proof of having a degree without transcripts or the actual degree? Will a letter from the school suffice? I'm leaning towards teaching either in Poland, Vietnam, or Thailand.

Thank you!

It's less likely to be an issue in Poland, I think. Most European countries don't require a degree for teachers to get legal working papers - you could get definite info on the Poland forum.

It is likely more of an issue in most of Asia, where a degree is required by law in many places for teachers.

In China, they usually just want a copy of the diploma. If I knew that I had truly graduated, but that I wouldn't be getting my actual diploma for a while, I would probably fake it, because in my mind I would know I was legit. If anyone ever checks it out, it's legit

Here in Japan, if you have not yet received our degree parchment, have a copy of your transcripts plus an official letter from your university to confirm.

Here in the UK, I suggest you just give your potential employer the contact details of your university registrar, from whom they can get details. Some employers will do this anyway to weed out false credentials. You will probably have to pay about 35-50 depending on the university.

Under NO circumstances fake a degree as this could have serious consequences.

Your university may send a transcript, i.e. details of your course, which should be available before your degree certificate.

What kind of school takes 6 months to issue the diploma or final transcripts?
