|
|
I already have a BA and an MA, and have some ESL teaching experience. I am currently pursuing another degree, but I have some time off this summer, plus as Polish passport, and some Polish language skills (though I am a native English speaker).
Is it possible to get a summer gig teaching English? I'm not looking to make a lot of money - just enough to get by. Got any tips? Is there anywhere that would hire from overseas, or is there a possibility of finding work by "pounding the pavement"?
I would ideally like work in Krakow. |

Most of us see a drop-off in the number of students over the summer months, as the regular semester-system courses finish their run, and the intake for short-term courses isn't as high. Business classes are usually unaffected.
There's always summer camps if you want to teach screaming spoilt brats for 10 weeks whilst living in slum conditions for little or no pay...
HOWEVER, the only concrete solution is for you to get in touch with some schools and ask. It's not impossible, but without being here, it might be bloody difficult, especially if it's ONLY for the summer (you won't stay for the September-October start) |

PS
As a school owner myself, let me tell you it will be hard.
There are many, many teachers looking for work in the summer and not really enough students to go round.
The problem is, why hire from abroad when you have an abundance in town? There are issues with flats, visas, quality, homesickness etc. More importantly the ones in town are already tried and tested, know the school, area, methods and other teachers.
I think you may have trouble.
My advice is to come over BEFORE the summer and make a name for yourself and you should be kept on.
Good luck! |
