That you are actually considering accepting a job that pays 5,000RMB for 30 academic hours per week indicates that you need help that only a shrink can provide. |

Actually I'm not. I just wondered if it was well known and reputable.
I simply filled in the registration form on the EF site.
That gave me the link with a copy of the contract and it was the first I knew about the franchise side of things. Also, I knew nothing of the hours etc, until I read the contract.
EF said the range was between 5000 and 8000. As I'm a qualified Primary teacher with a uni TESOL, I thought about China for the experience and not the money.
Kind of like doing voluntary work with a bit of spending money.
However, I won't work for a franchise. It reminds me of the rotten chook we had from KFC.
As I won't be working with this mob, so I guess I can give the shrink a miss. |

if you want to volenteer please find a reputable volenteer organizaition that benifits the local people. Working at a place designed to make money for profit for low wages hurts every teacher who wants to do this as a real job.
since you are a qualified teacher you have access to nearly any job in china to take a job like that is frankly stupid. if you want to just experience china you can find many jobs that pay around the same for far less hours as well as jobs that pay double or more your highest listed salary for similar hours. |

Recently I have seen a few international schools (combination primary-secondary) advertising for teachers with your kind of qualifications - USD2,000 to USD2,500 + + per month for 20 teaching hours per week (and a lot more than 2 weeks paid holiday that the other mob was offering).
Also, there are quite a number of Oz universities here which pay respectable salaries, such as Monash, UNE, USQ and others.
Do some research, make some enquiries and don't sell yourself short. |
