|

I was offered a job in Myanmar, got the invitation letter from the school, applied for the business visa at the embassy in Ottawa and was rejected as the school could not provide me with a document confirming they are registered with the Ministry of Education. How and where did you get your work visa? Is it possible to entry the country on a tourist visa, find a job there and apply for the work visa?
Any info and advice is greatly appreciated! |

you are still going to need all the paperwork from the school to be able to obtain the working visa ...they should have provided it to you...did you contact the school and tell them what happened ...that you were rejected? The school is responsible for making sure you have all the paperwork for the visa....otherwise, the gov won't grant you a working visa....
perhaps the school overlooked sending you the one document...is it Horizon in Mandalay where you were offered the position? If so, they have been around a while....they should have the document for you...I would imagine.... |

thanks namdak, all the answers are yes, and of course the first thing was i emailed them, they do not have a doc like that and told me to apply in Bangkok. I still have the same questions: if you are Canadian, where did you apply for the visa? How long is it in Bangkok - tonnes of info about the tourist visa but non first-hand info about the business one. |

you can get a visa in Bangkok, but you will still need the paperwork from the school for the working visa....bring whatever the school gave you...maybe the school has a connection with some guy in the visa office there in Bangkok...you will need photos, etc., and fees, and it usually takes two days depending on what time you get there to apply...
however, you could spend the money and go all the way to Bangkok from Canada and still be rejected...and who pays for it? not the school...I don't understand why the school is doing this to you...giving you quite the runaround...
sorry I can't help more with information regarding the teaching visa...I just remember all the docs I needed from the school to get the visa in Bangkok....when I first went to Myanmar for the beginning of the school year...the school faxed me all the docs and I applied to the DC embassy and they sent everthing back with visa ok...
then after you are in Myanmar...unfortunately, you must fly out to Bangkok every few months to renew even your working visa...even though it is a working visa...there are many different ins and outs with it...
regarding the tourist visa...it might work for a little while but it will expire...and I have no idea of the repercussions of doing it anyway...the school would be irresponsible in dealing with your visa and paperwork in such a way....
what has the school given you so far? p.m. me if you like regarding Horizon |
