In Buenos Aires what hostels and hotels can you recommend, or not recommend? Flying there in a few weeks and I want anything walking distance to a metro train station.... I prefer solo individual room if possible.... I'm a pro EFL teacher which means I am totally broke.... Can only afford cheap places.... Might wind up in a bunk bed in a youth hostel.... Sure hope not.... Any advice re price range and location?  |

| I'd start with the hostel in San Telmo. Google it - I can't remember the exact address but it's decent, cheap and in an older part of El Centro. There's no shortage of places to stay in BsAs. There's casas de la familia - kinda like a boarding house - and check Craigslist for apartments. Now . . . if we could all just find the perfect job . . . |

| Thanks Maraya! Any other advice? I heard people tend to get stuck in Youth Hostels because hotels are too expensive and few locals rent out their spare rooms. True? I'm too old to tolerate bunk beds for long-term. Are individual rooms expensive or hard to get in hostels? Are there tolerable cheap hotels we can live in long-term? |

Great responses! I'm on the road without a laptop. Hard to research this stuff at internet cafes and libraries. But hostels.com was great advice:
