I've posted this inquiry in the teacher-training forum, but I'm going to try here, too. I have a CELTA and MATEFL, with ten years TESOL experience around the world, including six years post-CELTA and two years post-MA. I'm discovering that some interesting jobs (e.g., teacher-trainer, British Council) require a DELTA. I'm married and don't have the cash to fork over for a DELTA. I remember seeing adverts once in a while for employers who would subsidize the DELTA while you work there. Does anybody have any current info on this, or have any other ideas? Thanks very, very much in advance, if you do. Sign me: "Disappointed I did my MA too soon for it to include the DELTA. " |

The BC paid for most of mine while I was working with them a while ago. Generally they seem to prefer DELTA's over MAs. Even without a DELTA I'd apply ....... it might be worth it especially if you've already got some teacher training experience.
As regards cost - it might be worth seeing if the Distance DELTA works out cheaper or if there's anywhere offering it part time.
I know it seems pretty crazy wanting a DELTA when you already have an MA but its the practical side of things they like and a bit of paper showing you can actually teach to a 'certain standard' I guess. |
