I am employed in Taiwan, have an A.R.C., Work Permit, and Resident Visa. I am thinking of changing jobs. If I do, I will give my job about 6 weeks notice, and give them my cancellation fee in cash upon departure. I will even offer to fill in for them in the future if they need it. It's just not the place for me. I do know that my boss will cancel my Work Permit the moment I quit. But I will play ball with her if I quit, no funny stuff.
Is there anyway to do this nicely, smoothly, without having to do a Visa Run?
I know it's been discussed before, but I'm looking for fresh information. The A.R.C. is different now, and not just a little piece of paper. I almost wonder if this should be a poll since it's more a matter of opinion.
Thanks! |

It can be done, needs both sides to be willing and transfer the details over to the new employer.
The old job does have a legal responsibility to cancel your docs when you leave. However if you are taking up new employ it is better if all parties concerned have time to arrange the transfer. It was easy at that time and just needed a piece of paper from your old employer stating date of termination, a new piece from prospective employer with start dates, and the Police station to stamp both pieces of paper. I would presume these days a trip to Taipei might be necessary or one of the new local officers for "Alien" affairs.
I cannot give you exact details as I have only heard of it being done. Also with the changes to the law and the moving of departments recently there might be a new method of doing this. Best would be going to your local bureau of alien affairs or whatever the new department is called and check the procedures.
You may be lucky and find someone here who has done it and Knows the procedure. |
