|
|
My girlfriend and I currently hoping to find work in southern Mexico or Central America, with the intention to begin in late spring or early summer, even settling for some summer language programs. We both have degrees, TEFL certificates, and over two years teaching abroad (South Korea). I have read that jobs are plentiful if you simply look once actually present in Mexico, but we are a little wary about just showing up somewhere without something arranged. I've found plenty of websites to locate jobs, though for the most part it seems schools are looking for people to begin work a bit earlier than we can. I'm just seeking some sound advice as to the timing for finding work, suggestions of possible schools or (summer) programs to contact, and opinions on the likelihood of finding work as a couple.
Thanks to anyone who uses their time to assist us. |

There really aren't summer language programs in Mexico and Central America the way there are in Korea or other parts of the world, so you can probably eliminate that idea.
As a couple, I think it will be harder to arrange jobs in advance. I think you should apply as individuals and hope that one of you gets a job, focusing only on larger cities, then the other can line something up once you are here. Larger cities, because in many smaller cities there might be only that one place to work.
Also few places recruit more than 6 weeks in advance, so that's why you are only seeing jobs earlier than you could start at this point in the year. |

I just sent you a PM.
You can arrange jobs beforehand, try contacting schools, primary or secondary. Just making contact helps, then you can interview when you get there, you should have a job within a coupel of weeks.
Language schools hire year round, so you can start with them, then try schools or unis |
