Do you know any UK agency which deals with bringing foreign teachers to the UK? I heard about one but its website is dead. They used to bring the Russian teachers of Math, Biology, etc.
I tried a number of agencies but all of them say that they have hired only those who already are in the UK. Taking into account that the new point system (Tier 2) will be implemented at the end of 2008, I can possibly apply with my Ph.D in linguistics (certified by NARIK) and the US MA degree in journalism from a top school.
I am a Ukrainian citizen, currently in the USA. I have huge teaching experience and also US experience in journalism/writing. Or if to apply directly, who may be interested? I cannot leave the USA and just travel there because I may have problems getting back. I am legal here, but with temporary status.
I have experience of teaching TESOL in the USA, however, I have never been TESOL certified, they accepted my degrees/diplomas. Can any employer be interested in the Russian/Ukrainian linguist? |

As the new immigration policies are very new, I'm not sure anybody in education is really sure what they will mean!
However, check out this website : <www.workgateways.com/job-teaching> which explains about overseas teachers applying for teaching jobs in the UK. It seems you MUST have a teaching qualification (qualified teacher status) and two years experience, plus a valid UK work visa or right to abode.
Unfortunately, Russian is not a very popular subject in schools or colleges, and we have thousands of Russians and Ukrainians already resident here. Overseas teachers are added to the DES list for skills and vocations experiencing a shortage.....I don't think Russian or TESOL would qualify.
Also look at <www.teachweb.co.uk> which advertises vacancies for long term, supply and permanent teachers in various subjects.
Good luck! |
