Hi all you experts out there!
I'm new to the forum but have been working in Mexico for 6 months as a teacher trainer and curriculum consultant. Basically I'm in the Normale system, but my program has been sending me to do workshops for tutores of secudarias and students who are 'English Specialists' in the Normal programs and a few prepa teachers thrown into the mix in the Edo.Mexico. Currently I'm on a Fellowship which is funded by the US State Dept. I know this is bit unusual from what is generally posted here, but I would like to continue working in this capacity somewhere else in Mexico in the Fall. I enjoy the challenge of assessing the needs of these programs and then creating workshops to address the situation. The NEED is pressing and overwhelming, but is any organization going to pay me to do this in public education?
Just wondering, as I am looking for a job for the Fall.
Thanks anyone who has time to reply.

Maybe the UNAM's preparatoria, the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria? This is just speculation on my part & I don't have any contacts there, except in a most indirect way (parent of ENP student, who doesn't take English).

Would that be in DF?
I was at MexTESOL in VeraCruz and someone did a presentation from UNAM CELE on a new training format they were working on. Interesting.
Not too excited about living in the BIG city, but it might amount to that. Anyone know anything about working for a trainer at the British Council?

Yes, the ENP has 9 campuses around the DF. The smallest campus has about 4000 students total, and some perhaps 15 English teachers (in the morning shift only). The other 8 campuses are bigger; I don't know by how much.

There is indeed a great and pressing need for further teacher training...especially in the private sector. I've been working in this area for the last several years, but mostly in language schools, from small outfits to large chains. You might be able to turn consultant and offer your services around the country. The work is out there to be sure...I turned down a gig last year with Tec de Monterrey due to a heavy workload in DF.
