Hi, I am an American, currently teaching in Los Angeles, but I really want to find a teaching job in Zagreb, or another city in Croatia. I am going to go with a friend.
I have a BA in English and History from UCLA and an MA from USC in education, as well as a teaching credential. i also have a TESL certificate from oxford seminars. my friend is pursuing her MA in education and has a BA in psychology.
I am trying to find jobs to apply for and am struggling simply because i'm not really sure where to begin. if anyone has any advice or information, i would really appreciate it. we were also looking into Italy, but have realized that it is incredibly difficult, if not impossible, for Americans without EU passports to find legal jobs working there. I am under the impression that Croatia is not yet part of the EU, so it is still possible for Americans to find legal jobs there. Is this true?
thanks for any advice! |

I lived in Croatia a couple of years ago. Very nice people, but don't expect to make much money. |

So I've gotten lists of language schools, thanks to the advice from this site and others, but I'm not getting very positive responses. Basically, schools are saying that they don't have any openings and/or they would like to meet me. Is Croatia a place where you have to physically go there to find a job? And if it is, does anyone know what the odds are that I will go and NOT find one? |

You might also want to post your inquiry in either the "Macedonia and the Balkans Forum" or in the "General European Forum". |
