Hi,

I'm thinking about teaching in China starting in January next year, I'm trying to do some research so when the time comes to apply I'll have as much info as possible.

I was thinking of applying for a job with Aston or Shane as they seem to offer 6-7 month contracts (which is what I'm after) and I can't seem to find many contracts for less than a year on the job boards. Does anyone have any experience with either of these?? I've heard some bad things about Aston but a friend of a friend worked for them and they said it was fine.

Any advice would be much appreciated, I've only just started looking so am open to all suggestions!

Thanks!

A couple of years ago I interviewed for a job at Shane in Shanghai. They offered me a job but I never took it coz of the 20 page contract and the vagueness about which branch/es I would be working at and for how many hours.

A general rule I've used in China regarding contracts is the less like a SAFEA contract, the more convoluted and lengthy a contract, the further I need to run from the school offering it.

Thanks for your responses! Does anyone have any advice about getting a 6 month contract in China that is not with Shane, Aston and the like?? I've been looking at the job boards and the majority are 12 month contracts.

You're making it hard on yourself. Simply e-mail positions you are interested in and clearly state you're interested in a short-term position.
