At about quarter past eight this evening I found myself drinking a beer in a local bar with my partner. This bar had a huge screen showing the ''corrida'' of the day from Sevilla. What I saw was shameful.
The badly wounded animal was on its knees but managed to drag itself to its feet. For about a minute it tottered, swayed and sought refuge against the barriers of the Plaza. The poor thing finally collapsed and died to the applause of the ''aficionados''.
Summer is upon us. This kind of ''spectacle'' will appear daily on our screens. Come on, Brussels! Come on, civilized people! This has to stop!

fortunately there is a growing movement in Spain seeking to ban this most barbaric of spectacles, which masquerades under the banner of 'tradition'.
