Has anyone had any experience with this process. For just under $900,it promises placement in a good school that pays at least 335,000 Chilean pesos per month for 15 hrs or work, 3 weeks free housing upon arrival (also help finding permanent housing), in-country orientation/training, and help with getting Visa stuff taken care of. What do you all think? Is this a good option or does it seem like an excessive waste of money? That price plus airfare would leave me with very very little money left over, and I'm trying to avoid asking the parents for extra funds/ no interest loans.
P.S. I'm just graduating from college so asking for money wouldn't be too weird. |

....swimweh, go through the Chile pages here....i found a few threads on page 3, etc....if you do a search, it won't bring up much on this program.
i've examined this program also from many angles, seems rock-solid. it's only about $400 / mo with health, but you can supplement with tutoring. also, it's not very 'high-stress' as you are an 'assistant teacher', not the head teacher. good program to travel and teach a little, get to know the country and for your resume. below is one topic, and some people that you can contact.

I just arrived in Santiago 9 days ago for a job placed by TeachingChile and am REALLY happy I decided to come through a placement agency rather than independently. Part of the money you pay to them goes to your first month's housing and they help you get situated in your new place- wherever it may be. THat includes helping you find housing, assistance with spanish translation in the event of any kind of emergency, etc. Both Bruce and Andrea are incredibly helpful and completely present to help you with the transition. All 22 people in my group feel it's money very well spent! good luck! |
