Hi there. I'm thinking of trying to find work in Paris come august september time and wondered what the likelihood is of me finding anything. I have the celta and two years experience. One is teaching kids in hong kong and ive been doing adult and business english here in europe for the past year. is that going to be enough and what kind of work can i expect?? any help or advice would be appreciated. i should also say that im a british citizen so shouldn't have any probs with visas etc.. |

I only know about language schools, which are plentiful in Paris. You should be able to have a job within 1 - 2 weeks of coming here. However, the pay is awful. There may be other opportunities, but as I am just beginning in this field, I don't know them. |

what can i expect from the pay? I am currently living in warsaw and its not that great here either. im paid by the hour and its enough to live here but not enough to save or anything. would that be a similar situation in paris? or is it not enough to live on in paris either? if i have enough to live like im living in poland then i could do that, but if im starving then obviously not! |

The pay is about 16 to 20 euros/hr, depending upon where you work (excluding the chain places that pay about 11/hr). Full-time is considered about 27 teaching hours. The problem is that housing is so very expensive in Paris. A 20 square meter studio with "kitchenette" will be about 550 - 700 a month. And finding a place is very hard, too.
I am managing because I had significant savings to augment my income here. |
