|
|
Hello,
I was just wondering if there were any programs that pay you while you're working to get TEFL certification.
I seem to remember finding a program that paid around $700USD/month, and upon it's completion, applicants would have achieved a TEFL certifcation.
Am I crazy? |

Oh. I also seem to remember that the program was 3-4 months, and included accommodation... somewhere in Phuket maybe?
I've already consulted Google, but most of the programs I'm finding are shorter than that, and cost money. |

ask on www.teflwatch.org or www.ajarn.com
I have been here 3 years and I know nothing like this.
Some places have scams which offer a free TEFL cert or cheap price if u then sign up for a crap state school.
BE CAREFUL. There are many scams here. People think they are gonna live on a beach like Di Caprio. The truth is that it's hot, humid, gritty, and most salaries are crap. |

Yes, I remember that program well. They advertise in the Bangkok Post (version available online) all the time, and on ajarn.com. I think on Dave's, too! Isn't it TEFL International or Text-and-Talk? Lots of bad posts about it, though. But that doesn't mean it's necessarily a scam, I'd be willing to bet that the problem is people didn't like the low pay in the job after they finished and realized how much more could be made in Thailand very easily by just showing up with a degree... Solution? Quit the job and go get another... $700 is just 22,000 baht !!! |

I know that programme as well, altho' I was trying to give a response, based on my experience, to the OP's original post which seemed to be asking WHETHER there was anywhere that PAID you DURING the time you were studying...like working as a teacher while you are doing certification concurrently. There are courses which promise you the Earth, or even a job, after you have finished. There are numerous postings about such courses, and I would not propose to add to those.
IMHO an expectation such as this is unrealistic EVEN for Thailand.
ER would you agree, or do you know of somewhere which PAYS you from day one of study? I think that this is what the poster wants to know. If this exists, then it is better than a free lunch, and there would be a queue to get in. Please let me know if there is somewhere. |

That's what they advertise! Pay, from day one, with guaranteed job afterward! In the Bangkok Post every day, almost all year. Also, signs all over lamp posts and telephone poles. Swear I saw it on ajarn.com, too. Think they advertise on Dave's job board quite often, too. |
