So, I'm moving to Taipei at the end of the summer. I'm kind of confused by what I should do. What would you say is the rough outline of how people get settled in Taiwan? Should I preplan work or should I do it all when I get there? I'm just curious and I'm sorry if I am asking for complete newbie info, but I'm trying to figure out just how everybody else has made the jump. Feel free to PM me. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Also what are the logistics of going over and studying Chinese for a few months, then accepting a TEFL gig. How does the Taiwanese gvmt look upon such transitions from student to teacher?
thanks,
Jack |

Seriously, check the threads here the answer to many questions are here about taking a job before or not, peoples opinions abound.
Students can change there visa. Make sure that the place you study is a legitimate government one which allows you to work as well, Most of these are national universities, and in Taipei "shada" or Tai Dai" I believe have Chinese student classes. But beware they are real classes and non attendance will see you loose the visa.
This is off the top of my head and I'm sure someone who has done it will be able to fill you in more.
Good luck, and dont worry so much. |

You have to leave Taiwan to change a student visa to a working visa. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. |
