When I was in Hong Kong I was hanging out around Sha Tin and noticed that the dry cleaners I walked by had obscene prices. About $45 to dry clean a pair of pants. By pants I mean trousers, if you speak real English.
Is this the norm? Even in Japan it was not so expensive! I would expect to pay that for a hotel dry cleaners, but not just your average shop. |

| Just checking you got the right currency - 45 HK dollars is about 5.5 US |

| Yes, that's correct. In Korea it's about $2 to dry clean a pair of slacks; it was about the same in Japan. Back home in California there are still $.99 dry cleaning places for shirts that do a good job. |

I rarely do dry cleaning but that does seem expensive. HK is expensive for some things - you would have no difficulty finding a bar that charges HK$50 for a regular bottle of Heineken.

Yes - the charges for dry cleaning are quite high...I eventually purchased a garment steamer.

Never had to dry clean a shirt!
I use the laundries here and I can't compare prices but think that $21 for 8lbs is a reasonable price. |

I also use the local laundry, but pay $4 per lb. I send everything out and once it is cleaned I'll steam the shirts/trousers that I need "pressed" . I am probably ruining the finer items, but have become more egalitarian seeing the Armani mingle with the CitiStore. |
