What are some of the best books that you've run across to teach English?
For kids, I've hear that "Max and Mousy." "Mr. Bugs" and Dr. Suess are good.
For older students I've heard that English File is good. New Interchange is decent, but there isn't a variety of different English accents.
also, Streamline is great for role plays. |

English File 1, 2, 3, 4,
Have been using them since they first came out.
Very good publications, they have modern, interesting texts (esp level 3 & 4) lots of songs and pairwork excercises. I enjoy teaching from them, and my students seem to like them too (always a plus!)
The level 1 book gets them talking pretty quicky and handles the grammar clearly. it's also a good book to start off with if you have any complete beginners, as it doesn't go too fast, initially.
However I do find that with level 3 and 4 I often have to back up the grammar explanations (which can be rather quick and with few practice exercises) with other material.
Kids books: try "Superbus" (macmillan) I enjoy using it as do the kids in my class |
