Advice time!

I had a woman ask me about private classes, and it came out that she wants me to tech her the entireity of "SEPA Ingles" Book 4 of Level 2 so that she can take the test for it. She wants to know how much I would charge to do this. I have very little idea how to contemplate that.

Thus far, I have only taught group classes, never individual, so I'm not sure how advancement compares between the two. I also don't know this lady from Elvis, so have no idea about her learning style.

I know it's a lot to swallow, but what would you all reccommend to dissect this problem?

Thanks,
Sara

The SEP books are easy to teach out of. I did it in Merida back two years ago. Essentially, the student will be reading short essays and writing answers to questions about them.
Here in DF I would not hesitate to charge $150 pesos.

How about asking her? There are lots of questionnaires out there that you can give to students to find out about their learning styles. Also, after teaching a couple of classes with a person, you find out what they do and don't like.

Thanks for the tips so far, guys. Let me rephrase my question, though. I already told her I charge 100/hour for private classes, but the nice lady would like a price for learning the book. Thus my difficulty in answering. Should I just tell her we'll start and see? Or am I overlooking a tried and true teaching material/hours ratio (probably not, but here's to hoping)?

Tell her you can only estimate the time it will take to complete the lessons, (based on how much time each class is in length, how much material there is, and how much homework she is willing to complete). Explain to her that each person learns differently, and she could grasp it quickly and ace the test, or not. I have had adult students that were very slow to learn English and lots of extra work was needed, especially at exam time.
