|
|
Hola,
I've been in Mexico for the past year teaching English ( classroom and privado ) as a volunteer. I don't have TEFL certification or a degree, but do have two years of college. I'm also an assistant coordinator for the English program where I teach. I've been studying Spanish for the past year and can speak, read, and write just enough to get by.
I'm interested in teaching English in Argentina or Chile and was wondering if my experience ( and lack of certification / degree ) would be enough to find work.
Muchas gracias,

A lot of institutes only hire people with a TEFL cert or CELTA. There are places that would hire you but your opportunities will be limited. |

how about this aspect of looking for a job in Santiago, Chile? Is speaking fluent spanish necessary? I studied spanish for 2 years in high school but being 10 years removed from that coursework, I need to do some studying.... a friend of mine is going to give me her copy of rosetta stone so I plan on studying. |

Speaking Spanish is definitely not necessary for finding a job. It is very helpful though and it helps a lot in your personal life. You can always take classes here to help you get up to scratch. |
