Hi guys,

I'm publishing a book with the above title within the next six months. I will include some of my own stories but I'd like to invite anyone who wishes to join the bandwagon and submit your stories (wild, wacky, interesting) via PMing me.

I intend the book to be a fun, interesting and informative way for new teachers to get an idea of life in various countries, as well as being thoroughly entertained in the process.

Stories from around the world are welcome, I'd preferably like to have a range of stories from many different countries. The funnier, the better.

Thanks =)

How do you intend to confirm any of these as true?

How do you plan to credit those that are true?

Does that really matter in a collection of anecdotal stories?

If the stories are going to come from all over the world, shouldn't it be called "Confessions of an EFL teacher"?

And what, pray, do we get for the honour of writing your book for you?

The latter, not really. The former, I would certainly hope so!

fair point about the efl bit.... secondly, i was hoping to work something out with the story writers whereby we would all make a % of the sales and make some cash together...

That's very noble, Gav, but a percent of your small percent take will just not be worth it, IMO. Let's say you get enough stories from 50 people. (I'm shooting on the low side here to prove a point.)

Expect probably less than 10% for yourself. If you are generous and split that 50 ways, well, do the math.

A book sells for 2000 yen.
10% is 200 yen.
Divided 50 ways, that's 4 yen each per book.

I do, however, have a wealth of teaching stories that are probably worth about 4 yen apiece.

Sounds like a great idea.

If you want any short stories I have a good one from Hong Kong.

fair point again. well, i guess it boils down to the fact that 4 yen is better than no yen...up to you.

thanx

this kind of book will certainly circulate but won't sell enough copies to make the project worth your while. a few ESl teachers will buy the book and it will get passed on from hagwon to hagwon, school to school. more trouble than it's worth IMHO and that's coming from somebody whose got loads of great, TRUE stories regarding the ESL scamming business and beyond.

Why does it have to be about money? Instead of getting drunk this weekend people could write their stories. Just think how much time we all waste doing pointless things anyways. Furthermore if you don't drink this weekend it would be could for your health.

Only EFL teachers would read it though and most are too skint to buy a copy.
