Hi,

I know there is loads on Westgate on this forum and I have read a good lot of it but anyway:

I have had an interview with Westgate after having completed the long application form. It`s for the University short term position. I have an MA and BA and about 2 years experience but, mostly with kids and teenagers.

Its really hard to figure out how interested they are from their responses.

I think I did an OK interview which lasted about 30 minutes. He had time to ask me all his questions. but when it was over and he asked if I had any questions I said I did but had to admit that I had to rush off (Japan is 9 hours ahead of Ireland and I had about 15 minutes to get dressed for work!) I hope that this didn`t make it sound like I wasn`t seriously interested. I did apologise.

I keep thinking about things I should have said on the phone or put on the form but forgot about.

Is securing a position with Westgate competitive? I should just relax about this and wait until I hear shouldn`t I. I'm reading this over and I think I might sound a bit of an idiot. I know Westgate isn`t without its drawback at all and that there are other jobs. Its just that I really want to get to Japan and its the only short term contract that seems to exist! I hope I haven`t messed it up!

Thanks alot,

Dawn

I've no idea how competitive the jobs are there, but you should at least send a thank you email. In that, you could address just a few of your more major questions and take it from there.

Admittedly, I don't know for sure as I don't work for this company, but it sounds like you did alright by them. Perhaps some of the esteemed Westgate Professors in our forum may offer some feedback and care to shed some light on this.

I sent an e-mail after my interview with some extra questions. It didn't seem to be a problem. I got accepted.

Hi,

I have received a very nice email of rejection. Well, sort of. They said that they would be delighted to have me but that they can`t make a formal offer now. Instead they can put me on the list of back up instructors and hope to make an offer within the next 3 months. Has anyone been in this position? Is it just a nice way of saying no and should I just forget it?

Thanks again,

Dawn

They didn't come out and say no. Take it at face value. Send them an immediate thank you, ask if there is anything else they might require to help improve their image of you (or something like that). They have contracts for 3 months at some of their clients, so they may just be waiting for an opening there.

And, keep looking elsewhere.
