Hi all,
I'm currently working in the UK at a University (although I'm only CELTA qualified), but I would like to move into examining or marking.
I've enquired about IELTS examiner training at my local centre (several times - didn't get a reply once), so I was wondering what my other options were and who else I could contact.
Thanks in advance! |

The University of Cambridge are often looking for examiners for their ESOL exams, and their site has some info on becoming an examiner. Last time I looked you had to be resident in the UK to mark written exams. I'm an oral examiner here in Italy, and I approached the local Cambridge exams office to get the necessary training. |

Absolutely!
First off, it's a good source of income from May/June, when there's less teaching work anyway. Secondly, I also do a lot of exam preparation teaching in schools, so I can prepare students well for the speaking part of the tests. In any case, it's another "string to the bow" and makes me more "useful" as a teacher. |
