Hi,

What are the chances of short-term esl teaching positions in Kuwait?

Say, 3- 6 months.

I have an MA in photography, and 120hour TESOL Cert, as well as 9 years teaching experience.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

thanks

don't ever tell a potential employer your stay length - ever
you may be able to get the left over classes at an institute/language school/etc - chances are slim right now
but honestly, considering your length of time here, put ads out for tutoring....even that, don't be surprised if you only get detarded students with disparate parents who don't want to pay much around exam time...

Short term jobs will always be local hire with no benefits. I can't see you earning enough money to pay your rent. You'd be lucky to cover your food and taxi fare. If you have friends there to provide you with a place to stay, you may be able to find something when you get there... or perhaps not.

There is one employer in the Gulf, Abu Dhabi University, which does 3,6, and 12 month contracts (unlike all the decent employer who only give 2 or 3 year contracts). Their reputation is so bad that they can't keep many teachers for longer than that. They will fly you in/out and you are put in shared housing. But, you must have very low expectations and high need for a pay check.
