I was wondering who has lived in, worked in, or visited Eskisehir recently and what your impressions are. I teach in China but was stationed in Eskisehir about 30 years ago with the US Air Force. I have many fond memories of the place (and a few not so fond ones). |

I'm sure you wouldn't recognize the place these days. It's still very welcoming, and the two universities give the city real energy. The Porsuk river has been given a complete facelift, been relined and even has European-style pleasure boats taking people for trips in good weather. The most noticeable difference to the city centre though is the tram system, which has been operational for the last three years or so. It's modern, cheap and reliable, operating the length and breadth of the city. All the town centre has been transformed into a fresh and lively locale with trendy bars, shop, cafes and restaurants. Eskisehir never was much of a tourist city, but it is certainly a place to live and work. Check out photos of your old city on the relevant websites. |
