Obviously, this can never be an objective list. At the same time, I would like to strive for some objectivity, if possible.

Everybody has had limited personal experience, and even when 2 people worked at the same place, perhaps one liked it, and the other didn't. People are also "tainted" by the stories they hear, and maybe unable to form their own opinion even though they might be there.

Basically, I want this to be a list of the best institutions to work for in this country, without regards to salary. The criteria are administration, organization, quality of students, facilities, support for teaching staff, etc. Basically anything that makes your job enjoyable and easier, and really makes it a professional job as much as possible.

If one person names a place as being professional, but everybody else says it is a horrible and corrupt place with dirty politics, obviously we will go with the majority opinion.

I know KFUPM belongs on this list, but perhaps it is the first on the list?

Keep it clean. This can be helpful for many people. Please contribute. Thanks.

According to Vebometric ranking of world universities (http://www.webometrics.info/top100_continent.asp?cont=meast), which is based on the commitment of these universties to electronic publication, open access to scientific results and the internationalization of their activities, the best Saudi Universities which are top in the Middle East are (by order):

1. KFUPM (1st in the ME and World rank = 1128)

2. King AbdulAziz University ( 23rd in ME and World rank = 3108)

3. King saud University ( 26th in ME and 3259th Worldwide)

4. King Faisal uni ( 36th in Me and 3905 Worlwide)

5. Umm Al-Qura Univ ( 44th in Me, 4225th Worldwide)

6. Arab Open University ( 57th ME, 5229th World)

7. Islamic Univ of Al-Madinah ( 59th ME, 5224th World)

8. Immam Mohamed Bin Saud Univ ( 69th ME, 5708 World)

9. College of Nursing & Health Sciences ( 70th ME, 5858 WW)

10. King Khaled Univ ( 81th Me, 6170th WW)

Prince Sultan University (PSU) in Riyadh gets almost universally bad reports, at least from the female teachers. The men's college is supposed to be rather better in terms of the all-important work environment. The men are also reputed to be paid more than the women for doing at most the same amount of work, though I'm not sure if that is true.

007, your list is meaningless in this particular context. And probably any other.

This post hasnt attracted much participation, has it? Says a lot about good institutions in SA.

And indubitably, if you were to focus on the worst institutions in SA youd be inundated with contributions.

Maybe it just says a lot about the posters in this forum...

Yeah sadly, no input here, except from Cleopatra (ruling out PSU female section from the list).

So I guess it is just KFUPM.

What about KAAU and KSU, the other 2 major/oldest universities in SA, aside from KFUPM?

I would think that KFUPM would be given more points b/c of its location: the freedom of the Eastern Province. PSU and KSU are both in the conservative Riyadh.

As I intended it to be, location should not be a criterion in this list.
