I've been noticing in my schools, the number of times the local teachers screaming their heads off at the students (I mean screaming terror!). One time, a couple of students were talking while cleaning the staff sink. Another time, the basketball coach to a bunch of 13/14 yr old girls in front of the other team, parents and younger kids.

I was surprised nobody was in tears, but I don't know what I should be doing, consoling the students afterwards?

Gouki,

One bit of advice - learn the freakin' language and you might know what they're going on about.

Even if you speak fairly good Japanese, you might have a hard time deciphering a teacher "screaming their head off" at someone. I know I would. Perhaps I should ask my teacher to give me lessons where we do role plays of her screaming her head off at me... Rolling Eyes

This is normal. Funny really because they let all manner of rudeness go unchecked with younger kids then lose it for no reason. No wonder the little blighters are so confused.

Anyway this happens regularly at my school and the kids always cry and my heart goes out to them and suddenly 10 minutes later they are happy and genki so...cultural thing?

But the best teachers never shout at the kids like this...you have to keep your cool.
