My apologies for the typo in my previous message. But I so really need some info. I have been offered a position at the Karaca Language School, but I can't really find any relevant information on it.
Assistance would be greatly greatly appreciated.
Thanks... |

HI there,
I haven't heard anything at all about Karaca. I know they are looking for 5 native speaker teachers (I think) and as far as I know there aren't any horror stories about them, which can only be a good thing.
As for Ankara, what sort of thing do you want to know? |

Thank you very much Vre.
I'd just like to generally know more about Ankara. (I know that's very broad.)
I'm not really a party animal, but what's the night life like? What's the cost of living like? What are the people like? And is it convenient travelling from there in order to visit the rest of Turkey? |

I lived in Ankara for eight months (July 07 - April 0 .
There seemed to be plenty of modern bars in the area I walked through on the way to work (near Kizilay). I rarely drink, so I can't really comment on the nightlife scene.
The people didn't seem to be quite as friendly as Istanbul citizens- maybe a bit more reserved.
Being near the middle of Turkey, it is ideal for traveling to the Black Sea region and Kapadokya.
It is much cheaper to live in Ankara. The rent I paid there ($700/ month) would be triple here in Istanbul. It was furnished, 3 bedrooms and in the nicest part of Ankara.
Ankara is much more quiet with less traffic. Being the capital, there is more of an international flavor there.
There are also many beautiful parks. |
